The Antibiotic properties Of Cinnamon

As far back as 1978 research on cinnamon proved that it had many health giving properties, including those of a natural antibiotic. Why then do we hear nothing about this?

At a time when microbiologists across the globe are warning that we face a bleak future as more and more antibiotics fail to cure infection, you would have thought that the properties of this naturally occurring spice would be mentioned a little more often.

An article published by the Applied and Environmental Microbiology department of the US National Library of Medicine said in 1978: read more

When they’ve Killed All The Humans Viruses Will Rule The World

Much is said about the demise of the human race. Asteroids, total failure of the electrical grid, a new super disease or even a total economic collapse. Some or all of these may be the trigger, but I really think that at the end of the day, whatever the trigger is, the final cause will be a virus.

These microscopic in

vaders are the epitome of adaptability. They are able to mutate at the drop of a hat, they cannot be wiped out by antibiotics…even if there were any left that still worked properly, and they reside in all areas of the globe. They are the ultimate survivors. read more

Getting Back Home with Small Children

e have discussed the subject of a Get Home Bag before on the Prepper Journal, but in light of the winter weather snafu last week in the South I thought it was appropriate to revisit this topic. What started out as a normal day for a lot of people ended up being a long night because they were either trapped in their cars due to snarled traffic from the snow and ice or they were lucky enough to sleep on the floor of convenience stores.  It is times like this that cause me to think about what steps I can take to reduce the chance of an event like this impacting my family adversely. What would I wish I had with me if I was trapped on the side of the road and faced the possibility of having to walk home? read more

8 Items to Produce at Home During Crisis

Sometimes disasters are unpredictable. When they strike, it is usually the unprepared that fare the worst. Even after the disaster has passed, most people still continue to grapple with the effects. Some communities are located in areas that predispose them to the most risk in crisis periods. While there is really nothing you can do about your location, there is a lot that can be done to help get you prepared for the inevitable.

When the hurricane Katrina zapped its way across New Orleans, it left the unprepared struggling just to survive. Now is the time to begin to prepare for crisis periods. It may not always be possible to predict these disasters years before they happen, but we can begin by doing at home special items that will come in handy when crisis strikes. read more

Sniper Basics For The SHTF Survivalist

By Brandon Smith

God is not on the side of the big battalions, but on the side of those who shoot best – Voltaire

For a long time sniper tactics have been consider by many, even in the military, to be akin to a kind of state designated “murder” rather than a legitimate combat strategy. Only in recent years has sniping achieved a certain level of recognition. Centuries of warfare have passed in which snipers were happily recruited for their skills, and then quickly swept under the rug and forgotten once conflict was over. Daniel Morgan and his crack-shot riflemen were instrumental in America’s revolutionary victory over the British. U.S. sharpshooters rained hell down on German troops from over 900 yards during WWI. Snipers have dominated the battlefield in every modern conflagration. Yet, regimented sniping schools were not standardized in the U.S. Army until 1987. All previous schools were abandoned within a few years of their establishment. read more

There are many things you can do with Coffee Filters and it requires very little money. I like the big once available at Sam’s, and any dollar store. Every Survival Kit & Bug-Out-Bag should have these added. I have listed some of my uses below. There are many other uses that did not come to mind as I wrote this.

  • Pre-Filter any water needed for drinking, cooking, or cleaning when in the woods or trails. This will help save your water filter.
  • Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain used frying oil through a coffee filter. It will be ready for it’s next use.

Pine resin or pitch is the secretion from pine trees caused by cuts in the tree trunk or from broken limbs. The trees secrete the resin to seal up any cuts or damage to the tree. If you find yourself lost or stranded in a wilderness environment one of the best-case scenarios is that there are pine trees in the area.

Diabetes and Survival

When it comes to dealing with medical issues in a survival situation, one of the most frequent questions I get has to do with treating diabetes when drugs are no longer widely available. Since I am not a medical or a healthcare professional, I have always had to beg off answering, because I simply do not have the knowledge to address this topic with any degree of credibility.  Because of this, I was delighted to see  the issue of diabetes in a survival situation finally addressed by an experienced physician who is well versed in emergency and medical preparedness.

SURVIVAL-MEDICINE-DiabetesDoctor Joe Alton, who is also known as Dr. Bones, has written a series of articles that not only describe diabetes and its causes and symptoms, but also shares some steps you can take now to prevent getting this affliction in the first place.
